Maureen Maloney, Guest of Honor
Maureen Bridget Burke (m. Maloney) was born in 1970 to Anne Patricia Burke (nee McGloin) from Collooney, County Sligo, and Thomas Patrick Burke (“Pat”) from Cloone, County Leitrim.
Maureen is the oldest of four children and grew up in Our Lady of Refuge Parish in the Kingsbridge-Fordham/East 196th Street area of the Bronx until the age of 22.
Maureen’s first visit to Co. Sligo was in August of 1970 at three months old. Throughout every year of her childhood, Maureen was lucky to spend a minimum of five weeks in Sligo, where she came to know and love both her mom and dad’s home places and more importantly, the people inside of those homes.
As a young girl, Maureen marched in many St. Patrick’s Day Parades, playing the Fife in the OLR Fife and Drum Corp. and was the Drum Majorette in later years.
Maureen graduated from Fordham University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. At the age of 18, while attending college full time, Maureen began working for H.S.C. Management Corp. in the Bronx, which was the beginning of her real estate career. Soon after graduating from college in 1992, she became a New York State licensed salesperson as well as taking many graduate courses at Fordham University. Maureen later worked for W.P.G. Residential Inc., a division of the Commercial Real Estate Group, Williamson, Picket & Gross Inc., as an assistant controller.
Since the late 1990s, she has been the Chief Operating Officer for the Adele Sutton Trusts, a Realty Trust, with property holdings around the country. She also owns her own brokerage firm, Sutton Stone Realty, which she founded in 2009, with offices in Riverdale and Yonkers.
Maureen is a former member of Bronx Manhattan Association of Realtors and a current member of the National Association of Realtors and the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors and holds many licenses required for the management of New York City properties.
Maureen is most proud of her four children, Kerrianne (23), Thomas (19), Cara (15), and Michael, (11). She has been living in Pleasantville, New York for the last 20 years and is a parishioner of Holy Innocents Church.
This honor has really led her to think about the sacrifices her parents, Pat and Anne Burke, always made to give her the wonderful life that they did. It has also made her appreciate them for allowing her to visit every year the places and people that shaped their lives before they ventured off to America in 1963 and 1965. It is such a blessing to know so well where you come from. Maureen loves Co. Sligo and is so thrilled and blessed to be able to share this great honor with her parents.

John P. (Pádraig) Loughlin - Sligo Man of the Year
John P. (Pádraig) Loughlin hails from Carraroe, Co. Sligo. One of a family of nine, he was born to Michael John and Lily Loughlin, both from Dromahair, Co. Leitrim. Growing up, he attended Carraroe National School.
In 1959, Pádraig came to America. His first job was as a doorman and in 1963, he joined the NY Telephone Company.
In 1962, he married the former Mary Caughey from Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh. In 1970, they moved to Dumont, NJ, where they raised their six children, Terence, Eileen, Dymphna, Teresa, John, and Erin. They are now the proud grandparents of 13. In addition, they are members of St. Mary’s Church in Dumont and attend Bergen Irish Association events, also in Dumont.
During his time with the NY Telephone Company, Pádraig joined the Telephone Emerald Society and served as Sergeant-at-Arms. He has marched in all the city’s Saint Patrick’s Day parades with his children and grandchildren through 2019. In 2003, having worked almost 40 years with the phone company, Pádraig retired.
He now enjoys his time at home and visiting his children and grandchildren, as well as trips to Sligo and Fermanagh. Pádraig thanks to the Sligo Association for this special honor.
